A Day in Old New Castle

Yesterday was a garden tour/buggy ride/maypole festival in our tiny colonial-era town. My friend Bertie has a cute shop downtown where she sells baby gifts & handbags and does monogramming (feeding my addiction to personalized accessories). She let me set up a table outside her shop to sell jewelry to the folks going to see the Kalmar Nyckel, and I got to meet people from all over (NY, NJ, CT, CA). It was a beautiful day and Steve kept me company. My friend Claire had extra tickets (thank you!) to the Philadelphia Orchestra last night and Steve (dear, sweet man) took me out to dinner and to the concert. He’s a gem.

Speaking of Steve, he just accepted a new job and gets to work from a home office, which means I need to kick it in to high gear and get that de-wallpapered room spackled, sanded, primed, and painted so he has somewhere nice to work. I’m looking forward to having him home more (although he will be traveling some, too) because I have a feeling it will boost my productivity. Normally I’m in my pj’s until I have to go somewhere, so sometimes I spend the whole day reading forums and looking for inspiration on the internet in my grubbies. I can justify that because I work on the weekends. Fortunately today is my last event for a couple weeks, so I’m hoping to get projects done around the house, like planting windowboxes and hooking up the hood for our lampworking studio in the basement. Can’t wait to melt some glass!
