Carnival Collection

If you’ve been following me on Instagram you may have seen the fruits of a flameworking class I took in the winter with renowned lampwork artist Brad Pearson. I may or may not have moved to Richmond, VA to work with him. He is so chill and patient to work with, very knowledgeable. I hadn’t touched my torch since we started having kids and moved several times over the past decade, so it’s just what I needed to get back in the groove and get my studio sorted. In class I gravitated toward watery blues and greens, and in my own studio I started adding other bright colors. Usually I’m all about the earth tones, but glass in rich color is just gorgeous and this was the dead of winter so I was itching for spring. When I started making jewelry from my new beads it reminded me of the Carribbean, especially their festive colorful Carnival celebrations. Each island celebrates it at different times of year and by different names, but it’s always a party.
