Public Jewelry Classes
The best way to learn how to make jewelry is by working with an instructor in person.  Anne offers individual instruction and 2-hour group classes in beading, wirework, and chain maille.  Classes are held in Winchester, Virginia but she has been known to travel!  Click here see the available classes and get more information.

Schedule
There are no classes scheduled at this time because Anne is taking some time off for her little one.  Feel free to email Anne to let her know you're interested in scheduling private instruction.

Private Instruction
If you'd like to work at your own pace or learn a technique that is not a scheduled class, Anne can work with you one-on-one.  This is a great option for students who are short on time, can't make a public class, or want to customize their learning experience.

To Register: Email Anne for availability and to discuss the location
Teaching fee: $30 per hour, minimum 2 hours.  For you and a friend (2 students) the teaching fee is $25/hour per student, and for groups of 4+ it is $15/hour per student.  The teaching fee does not include tools or supplies, so if you have any difficulty finding the materials needed, check out my Tool Catalog or email me.  I also offer Kits and Tutorials for independent study.

Class Descriptions

Bangle Bracelet Class
Level: Intermediate
Learn the basics of constructing a wire bangle bracelet and clasp à la Connie Fox. Class includes instruction on tube coiling and kuchi coil beads.

Materials: wire: 24, 18, and 16-gauge; large-holed beads and spacers to fit on your 16ga wire (I love using lampwork and Bali silver for these bracelets), round-nose pliers, chain-nose pliers without teeth, wire cutters, Twist ‘n’ Curl wire coiler, hammer & bench block, adjustable-chuck drill (optional).

Basic Bead Stringing Class
Level: Beginner
Learn how to lay out your design, string, and crimp so you can create your own necklaces and bracelets.

Materials: Clasp, soldered jump rings (included on S-clasps), twisted crimps (the $4.50 bag), beading wire (19 strand, .015" diameter), beads, spacers, chain-nose pliers without teeth, wire cutters or nail clippers.  If you want to make a mother's bracelet (pictured), you'll also need 6mm bicone Swarovski crystal beads in birthstone colors, and alphabet beads.

Beaded Branches Class

Make a pin with delicate beaded flowers and leaf branches.

Materials: Pin back, 20ga wire (for pendant), 24-26 gauge wire, small- to medium-sized beads (pearls, leaves, crystals, etc), chain-nose pliers, wire cutters.

Byzantine Chain Class (Introduction to Chain Making)
Level: Beginner
This is a chain-maille technique of weaving jump rings together to form a chain. Great practice for opening and closing rings, and bracelets made with this technique roll beautifully on your wrist!

Materials: Byzantine ring pack, 2 pairs of chain-nose pliers without teeth (or 1 chain-nose and 1 flat-nose), large paperclip. Optional: 20 gauge sterling wire, 3-4 beads, clasp.

Caged Crystal Chain Class
Level: Advanced
Add Swarovski sparkle to a chain-maille technique of weaving jump rings together.

Materials: Caged crystal ring pack, 2 pairs of chain-nose pliers without teeth (or 1 chain-nose and 1 flat-nose), clasp, 2 strands of 5mm Swarovski crystal bicones, alligator clips, 2 soldered jump rings (included on S-clasps), twisted crimps (the $4.50 bag), beading wire (19 strand, .015" diameter), large paperclip.

Crystal Balls Class
Level: Beginner
Make a sphere of sparkling crystal beads to hang from earrings or act as a "beaded bead" for stringing.

Materials
: Swarovski crystals in 1-3 colors (3 colors will make a gradient look, as pictured), monofilament (illusion cord), jewelry glue, earwires, headpins, no-bounce bead mat (or bring a hand towel).

Earring Basics Class
Level: Beginner
Learn to make chandelier, cluster, simple drop, and briolette drop earrings using simple and wrapped loops.

Materials: Chandelier earring components, headpins, jump rings or chain, earwires, small- to medium-sized beads, 24 gauge wire, chain-nose pliers, round-nose pliers, wire cutters.

Flat Snake Weave Class
Level: Intermediate
A variation of European 4-in-1, this chainmaille technique makes a wide, flat band for a watch or a bracelet.

Materials: Flat Snake Weave ring pack, 2 pairs of chain-nose pliers without teeth (or 1 chain-nose and 1 flat-nose), large paperclip.

Freeform Wire Cuff Class
Level: Intermediate
This bracelet is what you make of it!  You can go for a modern, geometric look (left) or use soft curves and spirals for a more organic look (right). Your design can also be embellished with beads.

Materials: 16ga wire (sterling, copper, or German), 22 or 24ga wire (dead soft sterling or copper), chain-nose pliers, notebook and pencil for designing. Optional: nylon-jaw pliers, beads, bracelet mandrel, nylon mallet.

Illusion & Organza Necklaces Class
Level: Beginner
These airy, lightweight necklaces use a scattering of beads to add interest. How do I get the beads to stay in place?  How do I get the beads on the ribbon?  I'll teach you.  Learn to finish off with a professional closure using cones, too.

Materials: 2 clasps, 2 cones, jump rings, 2 clamshells, monofilament (fishing line), GS Hypo Cement (jewelry glue), small- to medium-sized beads for the illusion necklace (I like to use Swarovski crystals and freshwater pearls), medium-sized beads with large holes for organza necklace (no freshwater pearls), 3 yards of organza ribbon (¼ inch to ½ inch wide),  22-24 gauge wire, round-nose pliers, chain-nose pliers, scissors.  The bead store does not carry organza ribbon, so if you want to shop on your own ahead of time, the brand that Jo-Ann Fabrics sells by the roll works well.

Intimidated by wire?  This is a great class to get your feet wet.  You'll learn how to make simple loops and wrapped loops, as well as a hook clasp.

Springy Links Bracelet Class
Level: Advanced
Links and dangles designed by Connie Fox and made by you!  We will make springy links to form the bracelet chain, then embellish with fancy headpins, D-coils, caged beads, and several kinds of spirals.

Topsy Turvy Bracelet Class
Level: Intermediate
This class will help you learn wire techniques and incorporate them into link-style jewelry, including simple loops, wire-wrapped loops, jump rings, caged beads, spirals, swan clasps, and figure-8 links. This class puts the "work" in wirework, so if you haven't used wire before, you might want to check out the Link Bracelet or Springy Link Bracelet designed to help you learn the basics before tackling heavy-gauge wire.

Materials: 16-gauge dead-soft copper or sterling wire, round-nose pliers, chain-nose pliers without teeth, wire cutters, 4-5 large beads (lampwork is great), hammer & bench block. Optional: bead caps, large jump rings (8-10mm), flat-nose pliers or second set of chain-nose pliers. Large sterling jump rings can be purchased from me at class.

This chain is constructed by weaving silver wire around a mandrel and is finished by pulling it through a draw plate and adding cones for a professional finish. The style is based on ancient Viking and Indian chain patterns and is perfect for making a cord for bracelets and necklaces. Please note: this is a technique class, so your project may not be finished in class.

Materials: 1 oz. 28-gauge soft sterling silver wire, 12 in. 20-gauge craft wire, ½" x 6" dowel rod, wire cutters, chain-nose pliers without teeth.
Also needed for finishing off: hardwood draw plate, round-nose pliers, clasp, end caps/cones with ¼" opening, super glue or 20-gauge sterling wire.
